Roller Chain Sprocket Intake Fields
Provide the manufacturer and complete part number if known. If the reference is unknown, describe the sprocket using the technical details available. A resolved reference may supply additional catalogue information; check it against what is installed.
| Information | What to provide |
|---|---|
| Chain interface | Chain designation and standard, pitch, and whether the chain is short pitch or double pitch. For double pitch, include roller style when known. |
| Teeth | Actual number of teeth on the sprocket. |
| Rows | Strand count and row arrangement, such as simplex or duplex. |
| Role | Whether the sprocket drives the chain or is an idler. |
| Mounting | Finished bore, unfinished bore, bushing-mounted or another mounting arrangement; include the known shaft or bushing details. |
| Bore and locking | Bore diameter and units, keyway and set-screw details if applicable. Specify whether the bore is finished or needs machining. |
| Construction and space | Body and hub style, outside diameter, hub diameter, length through bore, chainline and available clearance when known. |
| Idler support | Bearing and support details, shaft or thread, retention and any available mounting or tensioner information. |
| Service | Material, tooth hardening, required speed or load, and environmental requirements when relevant. |
Do not assume a missing field is absent. A nominal chain designation, shaft size or clearance limit should be described as such; a maximum available space is not necessarily the sprocket’s exact size. Give dimensions with their units and identify any requirements that cannot change.
